The New River acts as a magnet for countless bird species, so prepare to be amazed! From burly bald eagles to tiny hummingbirds – migrators or year-round residents – they all find the habitat they need.
Verified sightings in the town of Fries and along the New River Trail State Park include:
- Bald eagles, osprey, double-crested cormorants, great blue herons, green herons, great egrets, belted kingfishers, and the rarely seen glossy ibis
