All visitors are welcome to mingle with the local residents who gather for a relaxing evening of old-time music and fellowship. The Fries jams are an affiliated venue on the famous Crooked Road – Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail. \n  \nBring a banjo\, dulcimer\, guitar\, fiddle\, or bass\, and join in the music circle. And there’s dancing all evening. If you don’t know the traditional two-step waltz\, just ask and someone will help. The jams are for all ages. \n  \nDoors open every Thursday at 6 p.m. and the music runs from 7 – 9 p.m. During a break\, around 8 p.m.\, there’s a real cake walk and the winner in this jolly tradition takes home a cake or other baked treat. \n  \nThe jams are free\, but donations are gratefully accepted. Refreshments are available. \n  \nDuring summer months there are occasional Friday night dances scheduled\, featuring the best local bands.

SEE COMMUNITY CENTER FACEBOOK PAGE FOR MORE DETAILS. \nThe day will begin with a 5K Run & Walk along the new river trail at 9:00am. Festival will be in the Fries park. Entrance to the festival is FREE. We have some great music lined up on the stage at the park throughout the day including: The New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters\, The Hooligans\, Phillip & Elizabeth Vaughan and Nicole Linkous & Chris Smith. We will have bouncy houses and barrel train rides for FREE. While supplies last kids get a free pumpkin to paint. Various vendors will be set up from 9-2 including Grounded Coffee\, Boutique clothing\, Scentsy\, The Cookie Co.\, Southern Wick Candle Co.\, Pampered Chef\, Mary Kay\, Trish’s Earring Bling\, and many others selling homemade items.
