Head to Fries for leisurely tubing, kayaking, and canoeing. The New River in downtown Fries is usually so gentle that people plunk their lawn chairs right in the river to cool off!

If you don’t have your own watercraft, the go-to rental shop is New River Outdoor Adventures about two miles downriver from Fries, at the Dixon Ferry Bridge. Reservations are suggested for summer and holiday weekends. This company provides shuttle service to various points along the New River.
